Edition of 5. ( 1-2 of 5 sold.)
“She says, "If I leave before you, darling
Don't you waste me in the ground"
I lay smiling like our sleeping children
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes around the yard” - Iron & Wine, Naked as We Came
This piece was part of mine and my partner’s , Paul Romano, 2019 show at Arch Enemy Arts titled I imagine losing you all the time. It came after a health scare which nearly cost him his life, so the idea of loss has felt suffocatingly real since then. The Iron & Wine song, Naked as We Came, speaks to this idea of loss so beautifully and I wanted this piece to show that.
The piece is cast in Hydrocal ( industrial strength plaster) and is finished with raw graphite.. The piece measures 8”h x 4.5”w x 2”d. It is signed, dated and numbered on the back, with a hole drilled for it to be hung on a wall.
If you live within the United States, please choose either USPS First Class or Priority for Sculpture, unless you are local to Philadelphia and would like to pick up the piece instead. International orders should choose International Shipping for Sculpture. Thank you!
